Kind of a Picnic

5.9.2012
Wednesday.
Today I got to sleep in. I met Henrique in the city at the Opera House. We went to the botanical gardens and had kind of a picnic.I had just eaten breakfast not too long before, and I had stopped by Starbucks in Circular Quay for an iced coffee. This was the first time I had had Starbucks the whole time I’ve been here! So Henrique ate lunch.
After we were done we walked around to the other end where you can look out at the Opera House and the Bridge at the same time. I tried to take pictures but the sun was in an awful spot for it. So I will have to go back in the morning sometime.
We walked a bit further past Woolloomooloo (how fun is that word?) and wound up right outside of the Art Gallery of NSW where we went last Friday. We popped in there for a bit because it’s free. After that we went to a store and picked up some iced tea and sat in Hyde Park for a while. After that I walked to Town Hall station and I realized that I actually know where things are around the city. Like, I know how to get to the train stations and what is immediately around. It is quite an exciting feeling when you realize that you’re not lost even though, by all accounts, you should be.
When I got home, I was able to crank out the rest of my paper that is due on Friday.
