Sorry, Ella

5.1.2012
Tuesday. Today I had many classes.
In my advertising design class, I was supposed to give a presentation on a product and their advertising. I chose Dr. Pepper 10. They don’t have a lot or Dr Pepper here, and they surely do not have Dr Pepper TEN. Actually, they do have Dr Pepper, it's just not very common.
We were all taking turns and I thought we were just going in a circle around the room (as far as who was presenting next). In between presentations the teacher looks right at me and goes “who’s next?”. To which I replied, “I thought we were just going in a circle,”
“Okay, that’s fine,” he said. Then he looks right at Ella, who was next in the circle, and goes “that means Ella’s up,”. So I accidentally threw Ella under the bus there. She threatened to take away my title of “her favorite American”. That one stung. But then she was also a little glad that I was comfortable enough with her to do that. I guess other Americans are usually too shy to be that mean.
I ended up not having to present, which was nice because I could use more time to refine my presentation. The other American in the class did her presentation on Ghirardelli Brownies, which they don’t have here in AUS. She had her mom send her the mix and made them for the class. They then requested that I send them care packages with Ghiradelli brownie mix and Dr Pepper 10. In return they will send me Aussie grass (which is really no different than American grass), toilet water (to see if it will spin the other way), and maybe some Tim Tams if I’m lucky. What a trade off!
During the break, Sam bought biscuit things (I think called Monte Carlos) for me to try because I didn’t bring any money to buy anything Australian. Sam is really into my weekly Australian experiences. Every time he comes up to me and says “Rachel! What are you going to get!” So nice.
After class, I came home and ate way too much food. We had pizza, salad and to finish it off, sticky date pudding with caramel sauce. I ate so much, and I ate it all in about 10 minutes. I can’t even help myself when dinner comes around.
